Since retiring in 1984, Le Hien Duc, a Vietnamese school-teacher, has become a resourceful anti-corruption fighter by filing complaints and helping fellow citizens to challenge petty bribing and large-scale graft. Awarded in 2007<\/p>\n

Dr. Ana Cecilia Magallanes Cortez: Prosecutor – Peru<\/a>\"Dr<\/h3>\n

Dr. Cortez is one of the most respected prosecutors in Peru, and has been the leading force in the prosecution of approximately 1,500 members of the criminal organisation headed by Vladimiro Montesinos, the primary collaborator of former president Alberto Fujimori. Awarded in 2006<\/p>\n

Dr Milica Bisic: Former Head of the Tax Administration in <\/a>\"DrRepublika Srpska – Bosnia and Herzegovina <\/a><\/h3>\n

Dr Bisic fearlessly took on corruption in this system, clamping down on those benefiting from a shadow economy by refusing to pay their share of taxes. For the first time, the process of forcible collection of taxes was applied to large businesses. Awarded in 2004<\/p>\n

Dr. Dora Nkem Akunyili:Director General of Nigeria’s National<\/a> Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control\u00a0 <\/a>\"Dr(NAFDAC) – Nigeria<\/a><\/h3>\n

– Director General of Nigeria’s National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) and a pharmacologist by training, Dr Akunyili has defied death threats while tackling corrupt practices in the manufacturing, import and export of drugs, cosmetics and food products. Awarded in 2003<\/p>\n

Eva Joly: Investigating Magistrate – France<\/a>\"Eva<\/h3>\n

Eva Joly was an investigating magistrate for more than seven years. A Norwegian by birth, she came to France three decades ago. She was propelled into the limelight by her seven-year investigation of the Elf – Aquitaineoil company scandal, which involved corruption at the highest levels of business. Awarded in 2001.<\/p>\n
