It said the problem is not with Mt.Gox software but affects all transfers of bitcoins to third parties.<\/p>\n<p>The exchange said it was suspending withdrawals and third-party payments until the problem is fixed, although trading in bitcoins continues.<\/p>\n<p>A bug is allowing a third party receiving a bitcoin transfer to make it look as if the transfer did not go through, which can lead to improper multiple transfers, Mt.Gox said.\u00a0Mt.Gox tried to put the best face on the technical problems in its latest statement, noting that the technology is &#8220;very much in its early stages.&#8221; <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.w-t-w.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/MTGOX_Statement_10.2.14.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">\u00a0MtGox on Bitcoins<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.w-t-w.org\/en\/bitcoin-value-plunges\/mtgox-bitcoins\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-14812\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-14812\" alt=\"MtGox Bitcoins\" src=\"http:\/\/www.w-t-w.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/MtGox-Bitcoins-232x300.jpg\" width=\"232\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.w-t-w.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/MtGox-Bitcoins-232x300.jpg 232w, https:\/\/www.w-t-w.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/MtGox-Bitcoins.jpg 489w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 232px) 100vw, 232px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Glitch in technology frightens off investors. \u00a0Our correspondent Andreas Frank states: \u00a0Bitcoin prices plunged again Monday morning after Mt.Gox, the major exchange for the virtual currency, said technical problems require it to continue its ban on customer withdrawals.
