{"id":17900,"date":"2014-06-21T05:45:13","date_gmt":"2014-06-21T03:45:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.w-t-w.org\/en\/?p=17900"},"modified":"2014-06-21T06:11:19","modified_gmt":"2014-06-21T04:11:19","slug":"assange-releases-document-showing-how-bank-regulation-is-being-stifled","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.w-t-w.org\/en\/assange-releases-document-showing-how-bank-regulation-is-being-stifled\/","title":{"rendered":"Assange Releases Document Showing How Bank Regulation is Being Stifled"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Deal among 50 countries would help prevent added regulation of financial services, website says. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.w-t-w.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/WikiLeaks-secret-tisa-financial-annex.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">\u00a0<strong>WikiLeaks-secret-tisa-financial-annex<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>WikiLeaks has published what it calls &#8220;the secret draft text for the Trade in Services Agreement (TISA) Financial Services Annex,&#8221; apparently covering 50 countries and most of the world&#8217;s trade in services.<\/p>\n<p class=\"indent\">&#8220;The draft Financial Services Annex sets rules which would assist the expansion of financial multinationals \u2014 mainly headquartered in New York, London, Paris and Frankfurt \u2014 into other nations by preventing regulatory barriers,&#8221; the website says in a statement.<\/p>\n<p class=\"indent\">The draft deal is seen as a way to prevent more regulation of financial services, despite calls for tighter regulatory measures that followed the 2007-08 world financial crisis. That market meltdown set the world&#8217;s biggest banks up against critics who said governments needed to rein them in. \u00a0Canada is among the countries named as being partner to the negotiations.
