The international community functions best when all its members, Russia included, are working together to achieve good results, IMF Managing Director Christine Lagarde said.
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

The G8 format ensured the best results for\u00a0the group of\u00a0the world\u2019s leading industrialized nations, Lagarde said in\u00a0remarks, carried live by\u00a0Germany\u2019s ARD television on\u00a0Thursday.Christine Lagarde is taking part in\u00a0a meeting of\u00a0G7 finance ministers in\u00a0Dresden, Germany.<\/div>\n

\u201cI believe that the financial G7 has essentially been a strictly seven-nation club\u2026 Russian representatives occasionally joined in, but\u00a0only rarely\u2026 However, the international community functions best only when all its members, Russia included, sit together at\u00a0one table working hand in\u00a0hand and achieving good results. I hope that, sooner or later, we\u2019ll see this happening,\u201d Christine Lagarde said.<\/p>\n

The Group of\u00a0Eight reverted to\u00a0its previous, seven-member, format in\u00a02014 when, in\u00a0the wake of\u00a0Crimea\u2019s reunification with\u00a0Russia, the G7 leaders decided to\u00a0stay away from\u00a0their planned summit in\u00a0Sochi and, instead, gathered in\u00a0Brussels without\u00a0Russia.<\/p>\n

The G7 comprises Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan and the United States.<\/p>\n
